My
dear friends, I would like to share a few stories of success by our
Indian enterpruners here. The purpose of this blog is to inspire,
motivate, encourage enterprunerships and self employment which is the
only hope under the present unemployment blues. All it needs a self
will, determination, dedication and guts to venture out in full.
Here is a true story of 63 year old Mr.Dilip Kapur founder president of
"Hidesign" an international brand holder for Leather bags and ventured
in to manufacturing accessories like sunglasses, pens etc.,
Mr.Dilip Kapur's father had a shoe manufacturing factory at Delhi and it
was sold by his mother to another so that they want to settle down at
Pondicherry Aurobindu ashram. At that time Dilip kapur was just 5 years
old and at the age of 15 he moved out of country to USA for his studies
in the year 1964. He passed out Phd.in International affairs. He
prefered to come back to India and worked for about 9 months in a
leather factory.
His fascinations to design leather bags as a hobby turned out in to a
business venture when his first bag designed by him was offered a fancy
price of Rs.300 by his friend.
Then he decided to enter in to manufacturing leather bags with an
investment of Rs.25000 under the brand name Hidesign in 1978 and wanted
to use eco friendly vegetable tanning instead of chemical tanning. He
first employed a cobbler Mr.Murugayan. Then Murugayan brought his nephew
Mani, the third employee was 16 year old pramila. Mani & Pramila
got married and even now after 32 years they work in his factory.
Today his business worth over Rs.100 crore with 62 exclusive showrooms
and a distribution network in 23 nations employing about 2000 workers.
